Høvisch Design in Paris ♥️

Are you ready for a digital yarn tour in Paris?
Okay. It was a bit of a surprise anyway.
It's a surprise that I want to share with you – are you ready?
I'm not usually very good at surprises. Being unaware and out of control about what's going to happen soon. I'm not good at that. Not even when I know they're good surprises.
Maybe you've already read a little about my trip to Paris on Instagram or Facebook.
Paris was my big surprise, and I look forward to sharing this article and some great photos with you.
On Thursday, September 7, 2023, my husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary, and on September 9, I celebrated my 33rd birthday. And what better way to celebrate these two anniversaries than to come home to Paris?
Unfortunately, I managed to get a hold of my back during Wednesday evening, which made walking around the city a little difficult. Luckily, my husband is understanding and supportive, and we had a fantastic and peaceful walk together in solitude right in the middle of Paris' buzzing streets.
Well, enough romance chatter for now – for more of that sort, I recommend reading my post on Instagram from September 10. It's a bit sugary, hehe.
I have always had a love for the French language and Paris as a city. I first came there after my confirmation, and since then I have visited the city quite a bit.
My longest stay was in 2010, when I found a sweet French family with two lovely little boys to au pair for. I had just met my husband at the beginning of that year, but even then he understood the importance of supporting my dreams – guess when we got engaged. (Okay, I’m not quite done being sugar-sweet).
So I have experienced Paris.
But this time it was still a new experience.
A world of yarn and crochet has opened up to me.
I am living the dream as much as possible.
But what about Paris? What does Paris have to offer? I never looked for yarn and crochet-related shops while I lived there. Because I didn't know about the wonderful world of crochet yet.
If you have good experiences with shops or other relevant knowledge to be found in Paris, I would love to hear about it. I am happy to share it with my followers, but most of all, I am not finished exploring the city of lights from a whole new perspective myself.
I had to google it. And I didn't have much time to plan anything, since the surprise was announced the night before we were supposed to fly, and I was a little down with pain.
But I Googled, I asked my followers, and I found Facebook groups where I could seek experiences.
Unfortunately, it seems that several of the shops I found are no longer with us. There is one place in particular I would have liked to visit. A crochet tea house. How cozy would that be?
But I managed to visit some other pretty nice shops.
So now I would like to share my experience with you, and I hope that you can plan your yarn tour to Paris a little better than we did.

I was pretty excited about this store. And I only had 20 minutes, so I had to be quick.
At first glance, it didn't look like much. But as I moved down the rows of yarn, I became more and more curious about what the store held.
I felt different lovely cottons, and I'll have to look for this new brand. It was incredibly fine cotton yarn with a shiny sheen.
From here I found out that the store had even more space down at the back, where I explored buttons (oh my, there were a lot of them) and other accessories.
Time flew by and I had to move towards the checkout.
But stop!
Right there. The cutest little rolls of cotton yarn in beautiful and delicious colors – and glitter!
Oh, but I was completely sold! And I bought their glitter, hehe.
I tried to communicate in French, but I had to supplement it with English.
The two staff were super nice and very understanding of my broken French. I simply have to learn some completely new vocabulary.
French yarn is not something I'm familiar with at all.

This. It's a cute shop. I was totally enchanted from the moment I entered the passage and looked for the shop.
Yarn everywhere. On shelves, in baskets, in the window, on racks and on tables. Everywhere.
I've previously expressed a small desire to get my hands on Scheepjes Catona yarn for future patterns, but I've never actually crocheted with it before.
So when I come into this super nice and colorful stand filled with beautiful cotton yarn, I have to take some of it home.
I limited myself nicely – I only took three keys.
And suddenly I see my new crochet hooks.
Tulip Etimo Rose. A lovely little set. But they were also sold individually. And and and. There they are in a whole set.
The woman in the shop doesn't speak English, so I try with the French I can. But I ask questions she can't answer and call her colleague on the other side of the aisle.
And here I have to say, they drop a star or two.
Because in comes the most French woman I've seen in a long time. And despite the fact that we actually spend a LOT of money in her store, there is no service or friendliness at all in relation to some of the requests I have.
I was actually ready to walk away from the whole thing because I didn't really want to put my money with her.
But my husband had caught my eye over that very nice set of pink crochet hooks, so I brought them home.

Metro station(s) : Jussieu (Lines 7 and 10)

Description:
This store had the sweetest employees. They were quick (without being intrusive) to ask if they could help me.
Unfortunately, they had the most different wool and other lovely and incredibly soft yarns. But that's not really something I use in my crocheting.
I was so close to buying a crochet book there – only because I actually wanted to buy from them (the exact opposite of the feeling I got in Lil Weasel). And it had the cutest crochet patterns. But I can't understand the French expressions, and I never really use a pattern anyway. So it didn't come to anything.
I would definitely recommend the shop to anyone who knits. It is definitely worth a visit.
It's actually a chain, so the store can be found in several locations in Paris. But this is the only one I've visited so far.

This must be said to be a real knitting shop.
They had a glass jar with crochet hooks, but other than that, there wasn't much to look for.
Don't get me wrong. They had a nice and very delicious selection and a lot of unique and beautiful accessories.
If you knit, you will definitely love a trip to this store.
But as a crocheter, I would probably only go there to say I've been there.
It's supposed to be a fairly "well-known" yarn shop in Paris - and I can actually understand why.
Unfortunately, the last store I visited was closed.
But take a look – it's for rent.
Wouldn't it be amazing if I had my own little shop right there in the middle of Paris?
What a lovely dream.
